The first piece is “The Sky That Broke The Hills.”

Glockenspiel, xylophone, two marimbas (4 1/3 octave), vibraphone, dundun and bell (West African bass drum), kenkene and bell (smaller West African bass drum), metal shaker and China cymbal. Tom toms and cow bells can be substituted for the dundun, kenkene and bells.
The piece is inspired by the rhythms of West Africa, though it doesn’t use the traditional dance accompaniments of the dundun and kenkene and there isn’t a sangban (the third drum of the consort) part.
